Since 2015 I have been capturing weddings including countless celebrations in my home town of the Sutherland Shire – so figured it was about damn time that I put together a list of fabulous venues!
From ocean views, to lush greenery, to the quaint cafes – The Sutherland Shire really does have it all when it comes to awesome spaces for your wedding or event. The most delicious food, gorgeous views and good vibes – to suit any budget. As well as venues I have also have a fave list of portrait locations. Here is my list, in no particular order:
The Nuns Pool Cronulla
The Nuns Pool is a gorgeous Coastal restaurant that sits on Ewos Parade overlooking Shelly Beach in Cronulla. The food (modern Australian) is absolutely delicious and the vibes are super chill, perfect for that more intimate and casual wedding by the seaside. The venue is also perfect for capturing those last sunset portraits, as its a quick 3 minute walk from the restaurant to Shelly rock pool.
Hazel Cafe Gymea
If you’re after lush tropical gardens as the backdrop for your wedding or event celebrations then Hazel Cafe in Gymea is for you. When you can have your ceremony, portraits and reception all within the one place, it makes for an easy and seamless wedding day – for both you and your guests. Hazel Cafe Gymea has everything – Delicious food, colourful cocktails on the deck for your guests, lush gardens perfect for wandering for your portrait hour and of course the art gallery next door for some unique wedding photos.
Rydges Cronulla
A hidden gem in Cronulla for a seamless celebration, Rydges Cronulla has everything for the perfect seaside wedding or event. The verandah is covered for ceremonies, the cocktail lounge located just behind for your guests to enjoy the vibes while you’re having your portraits taken, as well as the restaurant upstairs for a formal reception. If your guests include interstate travellers then having them stay at the accomodation onsite makes it super easy for them too, making this literally a one-stop for a beachside wedding.
Jack Gray
Nestled away from the crowds, in the main Street of Grays Point is Jack Gray, cafe and wine bar. The interiors are stunning, so you wouldn’t need to have additional styling. The space includes flowing indoor and outdoor tables, perfect for your guests to mingle and enjoy each others company all evening. There are also plenty of nearby places for portraits including Swallow Rock Reserve, Lilli Pilli Point and the National Park.
Tumbling Waters Retreat
Amongst the rainforest of Stanwell Tops is this hidden beauty, Tumbling Waters Retreat. Not only is it the perfect spot for your ceremony and reception, its onsite accomodation is perfect for you to stay at following the celebrations. The views are incredible, and guests can enjoy a beautiful meal overlooking the coast line. Wandering around the tropical gardens is perfect for couple portraits and keeping everything within the same space makes it so easy for you and your guests.
Cronulla RSL / Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club
The ultimate beach views are at Cronulla RSL and Surf Life Saving club. The two venues sit next to one another (run by Esplanade Events) and are perfect for those laid back celebrations big or small. The RSL has been recently renovated so the Coastal decor inside is perfect for the Coastal themed wedding. The views are stunning – overlooking South Cronulla beach, which also mean popping out for couple portraits after your ceremony is super easy.
